Angela King
Trumpet

Angela King is an educator and performer based in the South Texas region, currently serving as Adjunct Instructor of Trumpet at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. King is also a founding member of the Capital City Brass Quintet, an ensemble that frequently performs nationally and internationally. The group recently completed a tour of Costa Rica in May of 2023, where they gave masterclasses to surrounding schools and universities and performed for the community in Costa Rica. As a freelance performer, King has performed nationally and internationally, including performances with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra, the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, the Panama City Symphony Orchestra, the South Georgia Ballet Orchestra, and Orvieto Musica in Orvieto, Italy.

As a pedagogue, King has given recitals and masterclasses at universities around the United States, including Tarleton State University, Stetson University, and Troy University. Her students have been selected to perform at the National Trumpet Competition and the International Trumpet Guild Conference. King has served as Assistant to the Editor at the last two ITG Conferences, where she has also written reviews for the event.

She will receive her Doctor of Music degree at Florida State University in May 2024, where she studied with Dr. Christopher Moore. She received her master’s degree in Trumpet Performance at Ithaca College under the direction of Dr. Aaron Witek and Prof. Chris Coletti. She holds an undergraduate degree in Music Education from Troy University, where she studied with Dr. Michael Huff.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her cat Martin, hiking, running, and drinking coffee.
