FredBrass fellows help run the day-to-day operation of the Fredericksburg Brass Institute. In return they are awarded a full-tuition waiver. All fellows are required to house in the dorms at the University of Mary Washington and to serve as RA's for the other participants. Fellows may be asked to do the following:
- Transport participants to the airport
- Run errands for the FBI Directors
- Help set up and tear down for activities
- Arrive a day early and stay a day late to help with the facilitation of move-in/move-out
- Maintain the facilities at UMW Department of Music
Announcing the FredBrass Conducting Fellowship

The Fredericksburg Brass Institute is excited to announce the creation of Fellowships in
Conducting beginning during the 2020 Institute (July 5th-July 11th at University of Mary Washington). Conducting Fellowships are for the aspiring and/or experienced conductor and brass player who wishes to have intense, hands-on training in conducting technique, rehearsal preparation, score study, and ensemble logistics.
Selected fellows will receive free tuition to FredBrass 2020 and will work closely with the
conducting faculty and administrative staff to execute effective and invigorating ensemble experiences for all participants. Fellows will receive daily individual instruction and podium time while running lead administrator for one of three ensembles and assisting with logistics for all ensembles at FredBrass.
FredBrass Conducting Fellows at-a-glance:
- Free Tuition to FredBrass
- Intensive hands-on instruction in conducting
- Podium time with at least one ensemble
- Leadership experience coordinating a performance ensemble
- Inside access to the administration of large events
- Perform in one of three brass ensembles

will occur before the end of March with announcements being made around April 1st. There will be one to two fellowships in conducting available.
