Carrie Schafer
Trumpet 
BIA Hawaii

Born in Minnesota and raised in the Chicago land area, Carrie Schafer has performed in orchestras all over the world. Graduating from Northwestern University with a Bachelors in Music Performance studying with Barbara Butler and Charlie Geyer, Carrie attended the Colburn School in Los Angeles, California. She would go on to hold positions with the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and the Houston Symphony. She also spent 3 summers performing with the UBS Verbier Orchestra in Verbier, Switzerland. Carrie won a Grammy with the St. Louis Symphony in 2015 with their performance of John Adam’s City Noir.

 

Carrie is currently assistant principal/ 2nd trumpet of the Grand Rapids Symphony and is a frequent substitute with the Detroit Symphony. In her spare time, she enjoys walking her 13 year old dog, Emma, cycling, and cooking.
